Crowdsourcing is the practice of obtaining needed services, ideas, or content by soliciting contributions from a large group of people, and especially from an online community, rather than from traditional employees or suppliers.

Kickstarter has an extremely high success rate and a short documentary has been oscar nominated.

David Gauntlett Web 2.0

Over the years the media definitely has changed, and what david was saying is right. In the past it was large corporate companies who dominated the media, both radio and television, however since the evolvement of the internet people have become more detached from the media giants and produce their own videos and channels to share with the billions across the globe.

David stated that before, it was the media gods who had the power, people would shape their day around the television or radio schedule. This shows what a strong impact these giants had. However as the ease of access to the internet through laptop, smartphone or tablet has increased people can create their own work. People such as Barak Obama or Gordon Brown.
